August thru October are Health Awareness Months for Wellness, Heart, Cancer, and Active Aging. To celebrate a healthy YOU we are offering a Functional Fitness class that will teach you fitness tips on how to prevent injury in your day to day activities.

Physical activity is a key to good health, but the ability to move correctly, safely, and efficiently doesn’t always come easy. Functional Fitness and Balance & Core are new classes Orthopedic Spine & Sports Therapy is offering.

Functional Fitness compliments your Physical Therapy treatment program by helping you to elevate your progress. Not in Physical Therapy? No worries, classes are open to all who want to feel better and move easier. Check out the class descriptions and benefits below.

Functionally Fit Class Description:

Functional training will improve the overall quality of your life and brain function. The exercise mimics daily tasks and trains several muscle groups simultaneously with little to no equipment. You will perform pushing, pulling, raising, lowering, and rotation exercises with proper technique to prevent injury and improve your daily activity.

Other benefits of this class include better proprioception (the sense of where your body is in space), improved posture, increased strength, endurance, and stability, along with better mobility.

Balance & Core Class Description:

Take the fear out of falling by learning how your body moves through space and train your brain to react quickly. This class is a combination of balance exercises designed to achieve better posture, increase leg strength, and develop stronger core muscles. Core exercises will strengthen the muscles in your pelvis, lower back, hips, and abdomen to help stabilize your entire body. You will improve eye, hand, and foot coordination along with gross motor skills. Reduce your fear of falling and improve your quality of life.
