Professional Sports Training Programs

We often find that athletes are injured due to performing repetitive or ballistic movements while having biomechanical deficits. These deficits come from structural abnormalities, strength imbalances, poor habitual patterns, restrictions in muscle length, and/or restrictions within the joint.

The physical therapists at Orthopedic Spine & Sports Therapy have two additional years of advanced training in orthopedics from the Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (OMPT) program at Oakland University. This allows the therapist to connect the mechanism of injury to the appropriate treatment for the high performance athlete. Each therapist has worked with many high level athletes throughout their careers and brings their own unique background to their practice. Having the advanced training and personal backgrounds allows the therapists to understand the specific needs of each individual athlete. This not only helps the therapist to relate to the athlete, but also gives greater insight into the underlying problems that need to be addressed.

Orthopedic Spine & Sports Therapy’s goal is to work with the medical doctor and get the athlete back to participating in his/her sport as soon as possible. We are experts in designing training programs, stretching, custom fit orthotics, as well as accommodating to any other treatment specific needs.
